Happy birthday to YouTube. YouTube is now 10 years old. In 10 years YouTube has changed the way we are entertained.

Jawed Karim the Bangladeshi-German internet entrepreneur along with former PayPal employees, Chad Hurley and Steve Chen co-founded the YouTube.

On April 23, 2005, at 8:27 p.m Jawed Karim uploaded the first YouTube video “Me at the zoo” which was shot by his high school friend Yakov Lapitsky. In the video, Karim talks about how cool elephants’ trunks are for only 19 seconds.

From there YouTube has become a household name and product in just 10 years. Despite the competition from Facebook, and others, the numbers are growing day by day.

It is the 3rd most viewed website on the internet with more than 1 billion users. Around 300 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute. And half of YouTube views are on mobile devices which helped to increase mobile revenues by 100%.
